I would like to end this conversation between us, here and now, as it would bare no further fruit. You my friends don't seem to understand what GOG.com stands for, neither the difference of preferences between individuals, or how quality is objectively measured, so you had better not lecture me on the specifics, with all due respect. Hating them or alternatively worshiping them, would apply only to a minority of people and their respective reasons. Instead of being maintained as a unique marvel of the past, that has endured hardships and stood out from the ruble and gravel, admired by some, respected by others and being indifferent to the rest. Some don't satisfy the preferences or/and expectations of certain groups, while others offer them exactly what they crave for.įrom your outburst of self-loathing I understood little more than, let's say in the case of a museum, every exhibit that is too old, or is not so popular, or is too worn out, or missing pieces, should be thrown away. Some of them are milestones, some are memes maybe, some are just games that someone really liked. If you are not keen of playing them, you can try the latest releases. These games cannot be evaluated by present standards and anyone would be wrong and would hugely miss the mark, if they were to do that. There are older games, that were made by the standards of their era and their quality cannot be compared with newer games. I respect it and express my gratidute, when it's offered.įurthermore I fail to see your point. Yes ,I do not have standards regarding high quality. So yes GOG's curation isn't doing a especially good job at keeping out trash. The only GOG games I've personally had trouble with are KOTOR (nothing but a black screen after the menu) and Alpha Centauri (cut scenes don't run), and neither of those can really be listed as 'bad' games.ĬhrisGamer300: Talking about really shitty games then you can as well add Hello Neighbor, Inner Chains, Soldier of Fortune Payback, X Rebirth with all patches is still garbage, both ArcaniA games and Gothic 3 Forsaken Gods Enhanced Edition abomination among others because those are fucking awful. But Real Texas has some damn good reviews (4.2 star average), and I've yet to have any problems with Bethesda's games (mostly Fallout and Elder Scrolls series, which are both damn good). It's amusing when people claim that gog is such high quality where they control what they sell. Same with TDR 2000, Real Texas, Smuggler.all so broken and crappy.Īnd then you could make an argue that a lot of the games we all so fondly remember and look at with rose tinted glasses actually aren't good, aged badly and maybe weren't good at all, ever, like Jill of the Jungle. If you think a unplayable mess like Grimm passes "the border of acceptable quality and beyond" then you must have no standards. Just to name a few of the real shitty games. Bethesda's bug-filled, unfinished, broken "games" But that's what makes the game so funny so at the end, that's the key, unintentional positive making POTENTIA an instant shit game classic!Īs I said, I've had a great time playing.ShadowAngel.207: If that was the Nr. Absolutely pointless garbage collectibles - "notes" saying random, totally unrelated shit like "we were here. Has unlimited ammo and works ok as a human shield tho. Retarded companion AI breaking your stealth. Changing weapons and reloading is the no.1 reason to get you killed later on. Combat kind of works early on but totally goes to shit later with large enemy numbers because of this. As if they were trying to make one but dropped halfway there. You're a dude in post world war/apocalypse fighting bad gang dudes to take care of your Russian wife. Complete nonsense story and characters. Only a couple of "boss" bullet sponge enemies. Sometimes work as intended, despite enemies spotting you when they shouldn't. Stealth and Melee mechanics with a crowbar. Fighting small groups works ok despite being easy to cheese, better than I thought! Shooting is OK and it's easily the least shit no.1 thing they focused on in production. Enemies have hit reactions on models with blood effects, really bad but still makes shooting feel superior to something like Shadow of Tomb Raider. That's way better tech than, say, Resident Evil 2 Remake, where you just clip right through everything you shot as you walk. Dead enemies don't lose collision! They remain as rigid bodies you can step on and walk over. I don't remember laughing this hard while playing a video game, it really is a lot of fun despite being all kinds of horrible.
